Consumed by grief and rage, Arjuna vows to kill Jayadratha before sunset. Krishna uses his Maya to hide the sun, tricking the enemy and allowing Arjuna to fulfill his oath.

Hearing of his son Abhimanyu's unfair death, Arjuna vowed to kill Jayadratha (the one who prevented the Pandavas from helping Abhimanyu) before the next sunset. If he failed, he swore to enter a burning pyre.
